MEDINA — A 63-year-old Liverpool Township man whose wife was set to testify against him pleaded guilty Friday to illegally growing marijuana in his home.
John Staub, of 5580 Sleepy Hollow Road, pleaded guilty to illegal cultivation of marijuana, a third-degree felony punishable by up to three years in prison.

Staub’s wife, Erin Staub, pleaded guilty in October to a reduced charge of attempted marijuana cultivation, a fourth-degree felony, in exchange for testifying against her husband. Last month, Medina County Common Pleas Judge Christopher J. Collier sentenced her to two years probation.
John Staub is scheduled to be sentenced Feb. 24.
At his wife’s sentencing hearing, she told Collier she allowed her husband to grow the marijuana as a replacement for his medication.
She said she helped her husband mount a light because he had a bad back and couldn’t do it himself, but said that was the extent of her involvement.
