Seville chooses one trash hauler for village

SEVILLE — Officials have accepted a bid from a Lafayette Township trucking company as the village’s sole trash pickup provider.

C. Martin Trucking will provide 95-gallon containers to homes for $16.50 a month — or 65-gallon containers for $14 a month for senior citizens.

Seville Mayor Gene Sulzener said that’s a big reduction in price.

“My quarterly bill used to be $80 from another provider,” Sulzener said. “Now it will be $66. That’s a significant reduction in annual cost.”

He said residents have until April 1 to cancel services from other providers and confirm with C. Martin that they’ll be accepting its services.

“If the resident is currently or wants to start transporting waste to the county’s recycling facility, they’re not required to sign an agreement with C. Martin,” he said.

Before this, residents were using five or six different providers, Sulzener said. Having only one provider throughout Seville will have noticeable benefits for the village, he said.

“There are some residents who will have concern that the village is making decisions for them,” he said. “But having one provider will free up the flow of traffic, minimize the weight of other providers’ trucks that damage our streets and will reduce noise.”
