MEDINA — A 71-year-old Hinckley Township man who was ruled too sick to stand trial on charges of robbing a bank will return to the courtroom in 3ﾽ months to see whether his condition has improved.
Medina County Common Pleas Judge James L. Kimbler received medical records and treatment plans for Hugh G. Crouch at a Thursday hearing. Crouch, of 1439 Ridge Road, is bound to a wheelchair because of dementia, liver disease and various other ailments.

Crouch was found incompetent to stand trial two weeks ago, but Kimbler and county prosecutors said they want to monitor Crouch so they could file charges again if he recovers.
Crouch is accused of robbing almost $30,000 from Huntington Bank in Brunswick almost a year ago and leading police on a high-speed chase into Medina. The chase ended in Montville Township after Crouch struck a police cruiser and fled on foot, police reported.
He was released from the county jail in June because of his deteriorating health. Crouch’s family has cared for him at home, where he’s been on house arrest.
Charges against Crouch included aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony; felonious assault, a second-degree felony; failure to obey a police officer, a third-degree felony; and possession of criminal tools, a fourth-degree felony.
If convicted, he could face more than 20 years in prison.
